Poetry: “I Pledge Allegiance” (from November 2008) (Note: The original version had W. Bush instead of Trump)

I pledge allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, not the flag

Under Trump the Bill of Rights is burning like a rag.

If burning the flag becomes a crime

Then the First Amendment ain’t worth a dime

Trump and his cronies can’t take dissent

To Iraq or Afghanistan our sons are sent

Let’s put Trump’s campaign to bed

‘Til right-wing thinkin’ is buried and dead.
